Roxtec supplied environmental seals to help maintain a controlled environment by stopping weather ingress. There was a requirement to seal sections along the bridge to stop condensation forming alongside each section. A bespoke seal was designed to reduce the amount of welding required for fixing. Roxtec solutions are more than a firestop, they protect against multiple risks such as water, gas, and rodents.
Prysmian Group were delighted to supply their range of low smoke zero halogen and fire retardant joints for such a prestigious project. The joints were chosen for the installation due to the conditions, that they were going to be subjected within the box sections of the bridge for several years.
Aquilar, a leak detection provider, first quoted for the project back in 2010, with the client brief specifying that the Raychem TraceTek leak detection cable be laid along the entire length of the water supply pipe within the bridge deck cell. In total, Aquilar supplied 3.5km of Raychem TraceTek TT1100 sensing cable; chosen for its ability to detect the presence of water at any point along its length. Smith Electrical, completed the installation of the Raychem TraceTek leak detection system late last year.
With the support of Pentair Technical Solutions (UK) Ltd – Smith Electrical designed, installed and commissioned 3.5Km of Raychem Pipe Frost Protection Trace Heating Cable with Raystat Control-10 energy efficient controllers, along the entire length of the water supply pipe within the bridge deck cell feeding 18off Water Bib taps spaced out along the bridge deck.
