Smith Electrical Glasgow Expands Fleet with New DAF XD 370 with Fassi Crane
Cable Services Limited has invested in a new DAF XD 370 FAB 6×2 rigid sleeper, equipped with a FASSI F235A crane, at its Glasgow branch. This vehicle will support the delivery and collection of materials to and from customer sites. Thanks to its advanced visibility and manoeuvrability, coupled with the crane’s power and reach, the vehicle is ideal for the precise positioning of cable drums, pallets, joints, terminations, cable guards, and resin.
This new addition to the Smith Electrical fleet boasts an impressive combination of payload capacity, driver comfort, enhanced visibility, and precise loading capabilities. Optimised for heavy loads, the vehicle delivers efficient fuel consumption with reduced CO₂ emissions. Its large, deep windscreen and wide side windows improve driver visibility and safety. With its strong lifting capacity and impressive reach, it can transport heavy goods in awkward or elevated spaces with ease.
This investment will significantly reduce our reliance on third-party logistics providers while improving the flexibility and reliability of our service for our customers. With greater control over scheduling and handling, we aim to reduce response times and provide a more agile delivery and collection service. The new vehicle will enable us to respond quickly to customer requirements, ensure the safe handling of high-value materials, and streamline logistics on complex sites.
Cable Services has operated an in-house delivery and collection model at its Wrexham branch for over seven years. Using an in-house HIAB has greatly improved service levels and operational efficiency for customers in North Wales and the Northwest of England.
