Plan your orders around the break
A little planning goes a long way at this time of year. If you have projects running into late December or starting early in January, we would encourage you to get orders placed as early as possible – the final despatch day of Tuesday 23rd December always comes around faster than expected, and carrier networks are at their busiest in the fortnight before it. Customer collections remain available at all branches right up to 12.30pm on Wednesday 24th December, which is often the safest option for anything urgent in that final window.

To recap the essentials: our last day of despatch is Tuesday 23rd December, customer collections run at every branch until 12.30pm on Wednesday 24th December, we close from 12.30pm that day, and all six branches – Wrexham, Glasgow, Liverpool, Stone, Swindon and Guildford – reopen at 8.00am on Monday 5th January. If you are unsure whether an order will make the final despatch, ring your local branch and the team will give you a straight answer rather than a hopeful one.
It is also worth passing these dates on to site managers and buyers within your own organisation now rather than in the week before Christmas – a surprising number of January delays trace back to an order that missed the December cut-off by a day. A two-minute conversation this week can save a fortnight of waiting in the new year.
Stock up before the shutdown
The Christmas break is also a sensible moment to look ahead at what your teams will need in the first weeks of January. Jointing kits, terminations, consumables and tooling that are sitting in your own stores over the holidays are worth far more than items on a lead time when sites restart – and our branches will happily help you put together a pre-shutdown stock order so the new year starts without a hitch.
As ever, if something urgent lands over the break itself, get in touch with your usual branch contact as early as you can on reopening day and we will prioritise accordingly – the first despatches of January go out on Monday 5th, and the vans will be loaded from 8.00am sharp.
