We would like to announce that Graham Clark has been appointed to the Board of Directors at Cable Services Limited and takes up his role as Operations Director at Smith Electrical Glasgow – Powering Scotland
When we acquired Smith Electrical in 2004, Graham was a part of the team and worked in the stores. Like many others in the business, Graham worked his way up, through various roles, to become our UK Sales Manager and his appointment to Operations Director is absolutely deserved.
“I am delighted to welcome Graham to his new role as Operations Director – Glasgow. Graham has progressed through the business over many years, and this promotion is a well-deserved recognition of his commitment, loyalty, and ability. Congratulations, Graham “ – Jason Bostock , Group Managing Director

From the stores to the boardroom
Graham’s story says a great deal about how this company works. When we acquired Smith Electrical in 2004, he was part of the team we inherited, working in the stores – and over the two decades since, he has progressed through a series of roles right up to UK Sales Manager and now a seat on the Board of Directors. That kind of career path isn’t unusual here: we would far rather develop and promote people who know the business, the products and the customers inside out than look elsewhere. When someone has picked orders, managed accounts and led sales, they understand every link in the chain they are now responsible for.
Smith Electrical – Powering Scotland
Smith Electrical is the group’s Glasgow branch and has been part of the Cable Services family for over twenty years. From its base in Scotland it supplies low, medium and high voltage cable and cable accessories to utility, industrial and renewable energy customers across the country, and it is also home to one of the group’s two dedicated training facilities, where jointing and termination courses are delivered to Scottish customers. As Operations Director, Graham will be responsible for keeping all of that running at the standard our customers expect – stock, logistics, service and people.
The appointment also strengthens the group’s commitment to Scotland at an important time. With renewable energy projects driving demand across the country and our Glasgow training facility supporting jointers and installers north of the border, having an Operations Director who has grown up with the branch – and who knows its customers by name – puts Smith Electrical in the strongest possible position for the years ahead.
Promoting from within
Announcements like this one matter beyond the individual. A business that has been trading since 1971 stays healthy by giving its people genuine room to grow, and Graham joins a leadership team that has largely come up the same way. It is the surest way we know of protecting the culture and service levels the group was built on.
Congratulations, Graham – from everyone across the six branches. We wish you every success in the new role.
