Our Guildford branch recently opened its doors to customers for a hands-on open day with our partners at Lucy Electric – and what a day it was. Visitors from across the South East joined us at our new Henley Business Park premises to get up close to the latest switchgear and distribution products, talk through live project requirements with the Lucy Electric team, and take a look around the newest branch in the Cable Services Group.

Why these products matter
There was a good reason each product on display earned its place. The Sabre EcoTec, for example, is Lucy Electric’s SF6-free solution – part of the industry-wide move away from SF6, a potent greenhouse gas that has traditionally been used as an insulating medium in switchgear. With network operators and contractors under growing pressure to decarbonise, being able to see an SF6-free unit in the flesh and quiz the people behind it is worth far more than reading a datasheet. The AcuTec LV distribution cabinet, the MSDB 2.0 and SMDB distribution boards and the new in-line heavy duty cut outs rounded out a display covering a wide range of LV network applications.
A new home in Guildford
The open day was also a chance to show off our new Guildford branch at Unit 2A, Henley Business Park, Normandy. The branch gives the group a dedicated base from which to serve customers across Surrey, Hampshire and the wider South East, backed by the stock, technical support and cable accessory expertise the Cable Services name has been built on since 1971.
