This year’s annual Christmas jumper day took place today around our branches. Great to see everyone in the Christmas spirit and we are all looking forward to the festive break ahead.
All contributions made from today will go towards supporting our local charities around the branches.

Small gestures, real money
A festive jumper and a few pounds in the pot might not feel like much on its own, but multiplied across six branches and a whole company of willing participants, days like this add up to meaningful support for the causes we back. Just as importantly, they keep those charities visible – a warehouse full of questionable knitwear starts conversations, and conversations are how local charities find their next supporters.
A tradition worth keeping
Christmas Jumper Day has become one of those end-of-year rituals that workplaces across the UK look forward to, and ours is no exception. It lands on the last stretch before the festive shutdown, when order books are being squeezed dry, final deliveries are racing the calendar and everyone is ready for a break – which is precisely why a bit of collective silliness does so much good. For one day, the warehouse, the sales desks and the offices are united by pom-poms, flashing lights and reindeer in sunglasses, and the photos fly between branches all morning.
There is a quiet competitive streak to it too. Certain colleagues – who shall remain nameless – have been wearing the same heroic knit for years, while others treat it as an arms race. We take no official position, except to note that the collection tins do noticeably better when the jumpers get worse.
The charities we support around the branches
Each branch backs causes on its own doorstep, and the contributions from today will be shared among them. Our Wrexham head office supports Hope House Children’s Hospice and turns out every January for the Nightingale House Christmas tree collection; our Stone team walks, bakes and dresses up for Dougie Mac and the Stone Community Hub; Swindon backs Julia’s House Children’s Hospice; and in Glasgow, Smith Electrical has raised over £70,000 for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice since 2019. We trade in these communities, so putting something back is simply part of how the group operates.
Merry Christmas from all of us
Thank you to everyone who dug out a jumper, donated and joined in the spirit of the day – and to our customers and partners, thank you for another fantastic year. From all of us across the Cable Services Group, have a wonderful Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year. We will see you in January – some of us collecting Christmas trees.
