Over the weekend, we once again supported the Nightingale House Hospice Christmas Tree Collection Campaign . Two teams, Martin (Warehouse / Driver) and Carl Brown (Accounts) took on a route in 📍Wrexham, and our Marketing Manager – Huw Evans and son Tomi completed a rural route around 📍LLangollen.
“This is a great way to support the good work the hospice does in Wrexham in helping families at difficult times. Last year, the tree campaign raised almost £20,000 so this year the hospice is hoping to hit a similar target. Cable Services have been involved with this for a number of years and its great that employees (and child) are willing to give up their free time to support this campaign ” Huw Evans
The support from the Tree Campaign helps the hospice to provide vital care and support to local patients and their families in and around the Wrexham area. 🎄✨

About Nightingale House Hospice
Nightingale House provides specialist palliative care for people living with life-limiting illnesses, supporting patients and their families from Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire and the surrounding areas. Running the hospice costs in the region of £5.6 million a year – more than £15,000 every single day – and the majority of that has to be raised through the generosity of the local community. Initiatives like the Christmas Tree Collection are a vital part of making those numbers add up, which is why we keep turning out for it year after year.
How the tree collection works
The idea is brilliantly simple: rather than dragging your tree to the tip in January, you register it with the hospice, make a donation, and volunteer teams collect it from your doorstep for chipping and recycling. Householders get a convenient, environmentally sensible way to dispose of their tree, and every pound raised goes straight into patient care. It has become a firm fixture of the Wrexham January calendar – and a surprisingly good workout for the collection teams.
Hospice care is one of those services communities simply cannot afford to lose, and yet almost every hospice in the country depends on fundraising to keep going. If you missed the tree collection this year, Nightingale House welcomes support all year round – from one-off donations to volunteering and events – and registering your tree for next January takes a couple of minutes online. It is the easiest good deed you will do all winter.
A team effort, in every sense
This year’s Cable Services contingent covered both town and country: Martin from our warehouse and driving team joined Carl Brown from accounts on a Wrexham route, while Marketing Manager Huw Evans and his son Tomi took on a rural loop around Llangollen. It is a fitting way for a Wrexham-headquartered business to give something back to its home town’s hospice, and it sits alongside the raffles, dress-down days and fundraising challenges our branches run for their own local charities throughout the year. Well done to everyone who lifted, lugged and loaded – same again next January.
